Pioneer. Inspiration. Survivors. SUZI Q tells the final, unabridged story of the Detroit City girl who, after her international breakthrough in 1973, redefined the role and image of women in rock’n’roll. Suzi Q. is a pioneer and inspiration for a generation of female rock musicians who followed her. Contemporary audiences recall her influence as a pioneer, her radiant talent and a series of glowing pop-rock hits. The film demonstrates this with the example of a series of rock icons, with a special focus on those who followed Suzi’s path.

We return to Detroit with Suzi Q, who emigrated to Europe during her successful years and is now largely forgotten in her homeland. On closer examination of the smouldering family tensions and sibling rivalries that result from the success of a family member, a very personal exploration of fame, ambition, and resilience measures the price to be paid for that success. Suzi Quatro, still on tour after 50 years, is certainly the queen of Rock’n Roll. There’s no substitute for that.
