FIRST STEPS
Since 2000, the German Young Talent Award has been presented annually to outstanding graduation films by students of film schools in German-speaking countries. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of FIRST STEPS, the Hof International Film Festival has the invited former FIRST STEPS nominees Bettina Timm, Alexander Riedel, Evi Goldbrunner and Joachim Dollhopf to discuss their (survival) life models after film school.
Already during their studies, …
Bettina Timm and Alexander Riedel founded their production company Pelle Film and shot and produced together, among other films, their graduation films DRAUSSEN BLEIBEN and ICH KOCH!, which were shown in Hof and nominated for the FIRST STEPS Award. They continue to work together and remain true to the documentary format.
Evi Goldbrunner and Joachim Dollhopf jointly wrote and shot their graduation film WAGS, which was selected for the Hof program and received the FIRST STEPS Award. Their feature film debut AT EYE LEVEL won the German Film Award for Best Children’s Film in 2017. They are the developers of the software DramaQueen, which takes film and series dramaturgy into the digital age.
We ask:
How can the professional partnership last for years and will present excerpts from their graduation films. The four will also report on current projects, hurdles and assistance in (joint) filmmaking and how they were able to gain a foothold in the film industry. The panel will be moderated by the Artistic Director of FIRST STEPS, Andrea Hohnen, and Caroline Schöps, Film and Nominees Support.
