For his feature film RIVAL, director Marcus Lenz received the German Cinema New Talent Award for Best Film at the last Hof International Film Festival. And on Saturday, 3 April 2021, RIVAL will be our guest at our Saturday HoF Rendezvous at 7:00 pm in the virtual Central Kino Hof:
After the death of his grandmother, there is no one left in the Ukrainian village to take care of 9-year-old Roman (Yelizar Nazarenko). His mother Oksana (Maria Bruni) works as an illegal caregiver in Germany. Hidden in a van, Roman travels to find her. But Oksana is not alone. She lives with the widower Schwarz (Udo Samel). A dramatic love triangle begins, one driven by dependence, love and jealousy.
The film impresses “with an irresistibly emotional story that is not lacking in original scenic ideas,” according to our 2020 award jury consisting of Katharina Wackernagel, Alfred Holighaus and Max von der Groeben. » More information
