We are looking forward to Sven O. Hill coming to Hof on Thursday, 6 February 2020 for two screenings of his film COUP. The winner of the German Cinema New Talent Award 2019 for Best Film will present his film at #oF Next at 2 pm to interested students at the Schiller-Gymnasium. At 7 pm the film will be shown once again at the Hof Central Kino for the HoF Rendezvous. This will be an exciting reunion with Sven O. Hill, one which is literally generation-spanning.
The reasons given by our jury members Tini Tüllmann, Franziska Weisz and Max Gleschinski couldn’t describe the prize-winning project better:
“Entertainingly absurd, the movie takes us into this unique, true story of a deep-seated con man. Despite its small budget, this anti-hero trip takes us all the way to Australia and back. The story of a bank robber, who is endulged every penny he gets, is told in a courageous mix of three different genres. In its innovative mix of documentary, animation and feature film, the movie takes the liberty of breaking new ground, which we would like to see more often in new German films.”
Let’s dive back into the year 1988 and accompany a young bank employee on his unnoticed theft of millions. The story almost seems to be a special kind of investment advice, but only almost. Celebrated by the audience last year in Hof, I invite you to experience the film COUP (again) together with Sven O. Hill in the cinema.
