On Sunday, 26 August 2018 at 7 pm, we will be screening – according to the FAZ – “one of the most interesting and relevant films about this country”: the documentary DER MOTIVATIONSTRAINER (75 min), which accompanies one of Germany’s most successful and controversial motivational trainers, Jürgen Höller, over the course of a year on a seminar tour.

Trailer: » www.vimeo.com

What unfolds is a weird trip through Germany’s multipurpose halls – and a trip through a country obsessed with self-optimization.

The camera is there when Jürgen Höller teaches his participants mental techniques and has them repeat mantras like “I love myself” and “I attract money like a magnet”.

The world premiere took place during the Hof International Film Festival last year. On 4 September 2018 the film will have its television premiere to a broad audience on ARD. But before the first broadcast, the film will have an exclusive screening one more time at the Central Kino in Hof. Julian Amershi will talk about the controversial premiere in Hof in 2017, which took place in the presence of the protagonist Jürgen Höller, and report on everything that has happened with the film since then: its turbulent but successful path from an expert audience to Germany’s first broadcasting program. One thing is for sure: today HoF will show the film that everyone will be talking about tomorrow. We can expect an exciting cinema evening!

And what a better way to escape the heat than a motivated cool down in the cinema!

“I am very much looking forward to a great evening with great guests. This will be a Rendezvous you don’t want to miss.” Thorsten Schaumann

The whole evening wouldn’t be possible without strong support: Dr. Gisela Strunz and the Hermann and Bertl Müller Stiftung, who made it possible to invite the filmmakers, and Stefan Schmalfuß from the Central – we thank them sincerely for their generous support. See you at the cinema!

The anonymous concrete construction “Excelsior” is just a stopover for many of its inhabitants. Soon, life will get better and everyone tries to get ahead in his own way: with “Invisible Make-up”, the 49-year-old Michael wants to re-connect with his previous success as a call boy. Claudia’s days as a dancer are over, but a series of new photos are supposed to help her get back on stage. Norman wants to help others find happiness with his start-up “ChangeU” and help himself to a new sportscar. Hardly anyone can escape the temptations of success.

If you have a LUST for the WALD – sorry this is our best proposal for the translation – on Sunday 4 March 2018 at 20.15h turn on “das Erste” channel. However, the “Axel Ranisch Show” before WALDLUST cannot be repeated as it happened exclusive and live only before the world premiere at the last Hof International Film Festival.

» Information about the film

Director Tini Tüllmann is coming to Hof as part of the Home of Films Filmtage Rendezvous with a preview of the film to kick off her cinema tour in Germany. The film, distributed by Tini herself completely independently, will be officially released in cinemas starting on Thursday, 1 February 2018.

When: Monday, 29 January 2018
Time: 20:00
Where: Scala Kino Hof

“FREDDY/EDDY will be screened in the presence of director Tini Tülllmann. She celebrated the world premiere of her film FREDDY/EDDY at the 50th Hof International Film Festival, she is the winner of the very first Heinz Badewitz Award, she presented her film at numerous other festivals around the world to enthusiastic audiences, but she couldn’t find a distributor: Tini Tüllmann! Now she has taken the reigns and will distribute the film herself. And where will she be starting her cinema tour? In Hof, the starting point of it all.

We look forward to welcoming Tini to the HoF Filmtage Rendezvous with FREDDY/EDDY. See you soon – until then all the best, Thorsten.”

For the painter Freddy, who is working on his big comeback in seclusion by the lake, it is the darkest day of his life. He is accused of brutally beating up his wife and in jeopardy of losing custody of his eight-year-old son. All protestations of innocence are useless. And then something unbelievable happens: the imaginary friend from his childhood shows up.

He not only looks just like Freddy, with his appearance strange things start happening. And the more Eddy intervenes in Freddy’s life, the more Freddy starts to lose control. No one besides Freddy believes in Eddy’s existence. But the closer he comes to the truth, the more dangerous things become for him. For Eddy has come to stay.

But how can you prove the existence of someone you merely imagined yourself?
